M. Stahl Furniture is an outgrowth of the sculpture practice of Michael Mittelman. With a background in art and architecture, Michael's practice has been rooted in material and technical exploration. For two decades Michael has been finding innovative ways to work at the intersection of the analog and digital worlds. With the advent of affordable computer-controlled routers, he began exploring the potential of carving wood, the most analog of materials, with mathematically precise patterns. With several successful gallery shows of this body of work, Michael decided to bring the work into his home and integrate it into the environment through furniture and lighting.
